My niece and I watched Undead today, an Australian zombie horror flick. It was bloody, silly, offered a different spin on the genre and fun. If you're looking for a horror film of the zombie genre, I recommend it as a rental. I will say that I didn't think it was frightening, mainly because of the silliness.
I like Robin Williams. I think he's one of few actors who is able to move from genre to genre without a hitch. for years, it was great seeing him in roles that seemed logical to him, roles where his comic timing and delivery put him where he is today. Then came the films One Hour Photo and Insomnia... Suddenly, not only is he the guy who can give you a case of the chuckles, but he can also be the type you really don't want to upset or trust. I also rented the Big White, which is a return to humorous movies, in an awesome way (I didn't review that did I? Well trust me when I say it was a pretty enjoyable movie. Holly Hunter ended up stealing the show... Rent it for a laugh... It's like a kinder gentler Fargo). ANYWAYS...
The Final Cut started off as an interesting movie. It's science fiction about a future where you memories could be stored on a device implanted in your brain and then, when you die, guys like Robin William's character pieces together to play at (or in place of) a funeral. A movie with stories, plots, and ethical quandaries. But by the time it's over, I wondered if it should have ended there. I also wondered if it really should have ended that way. While I could put my imagination to use to draw conclusions, I really would rather not. What I did end up doing was questioning the ethics of certain parties against the actions they took to achieve their goal. If you're thinking of renting this, I wouldn't make it a high priority and I might even suggest waiting for it to be played on the SciFi channel. I will say that Robin Williams did a good job playing this character. It was also nice to see Mira Sorvino... Very nice indeed.

While perusing Kevin Wolf's blog, I came upon this photo of Michelle Monaghan. I then felt compelled to put Kiss Kiss Bang Bang on my netflix and I will never regret that and I'll take the time to thank Kevin for posting that picture and lauding the fantastically talented, wonderfully dressed Michelle Monaghan. Dang, that was a long sentence.

I will however tell whoever will listen that this is a fantastic movie with witty dialog, guns, humor, and best usage of foul language since anytime I've used it when I'm in a bad mood. It's even got a decent smattering of nudity! (or was it just me and my dirty mind?) It's got everything, you won't be disappointed. You might be offended but if you are, you most likely shouldn't deviate farther than the usual pablum spewing wastes of que-space that dominates these days.
