How do you stay organized?

I find it eerie that someone with the name "librarian" asks this. I took info sci and part of it was classifying and keeping your data in check so... You really looking for tips? seriously?

Okay, here's showing I have some sympathy for the devil.

- naming conventions, they are your friend. Practical, not esoteric.
- file folders, those help.
- never clean your "sent" box of email and create extra folders in outlook for recurring themes and usual suspects.
- familiarize yourself with search methods for every system you use. Search for the same things in several different ways in your spare time. In no time you'll be quick like a bunny!
- notebook, page open to blank page with some sort of 'date' reference. One pen on the ready and several in the wings.

- Uh. Hmm. Take your time. Rushing causes disorder and it's hard to keep track of things when you feel 'pressured'.

What have you changed your mind about?

I change my mind about everything all the time. Today I thought I was going to buy a PSP and I was going to charge it but charging things isn't my favorite thing to do and I can say I wanted Daxter nor Star Wars Rogue Squadron. Neither games really appealed to me and I thought "well I'm going to want to play this sucker", and then I factored it how much it would be to buy a decent looking game. Before I knew it, it seemed as if I'd have to charge $250. I have other debts, other things I should invest my money in, and I do have $200+ in gift certificates that are waiting for a Wii BUT I find myself getting more disgusted in waiting for them to be shipped into a Best Buy. They knew the holidays were coming, they know the demand is high, fuck this fucking "shortage" bullshit. I do want one, but I'm beginning to care less if I ever get one because I'm bored. Come on Nintendo, before you know it it'll be spring and I really won't care if I have a Wii if the weather's nice outside! BAH.

Well, I'm in no position to do anything wild or crazy. I'd just have to spend as much time getting so sort of job as possible. In the down time, I'd _actually_ read, play some video games, watch some shows over the net, maybe create some websites for people and try to do some research on what I should study if I go back for my masters. I'd like to do something lucrative and something I could enjoy doing... Hell if I know what that would be :-/

What's your favorite hangover cure?

A good deal of a hangover is due to dehydration. You expel a lot of fluid in between sucking down tons and tons of alcohol, so try not to make it a full on bender. Don't drink so much and when you get back spend a few hours awake drinking water. Plan on sleeping in. You may still feel like crap due to, I dunno, binging and cheap alcohol, but this is what I usually do. You shouldn't take motrin, tylenol, or any other pain reliever because you already are taking out your system by drowning it with alcohol. If you wake up hours after and you're sober and hungover and have retained some water, you might be able to have one pain reliever, but don't go trying to cheat the pain -- you earned it. Think of a hangover as a reminder that moderation is ultimately the way to go and as a reason to abstain from wrecking your system next weekend... I mean, who knows, you might end up in the hospital or morgue with alcohol poisoning instead of in bed with a hangover. Don't be a fool.

Vox Hunt: I'm A Loyal Customer

Eh, I'm not. At all. I have preferences, but no company will ever really have my "loyalty", they need to be loyal to me. I give them my money. I pay for their service. I'm gracious when everything is good. I just try not to be any kind of fan boy. I try to be open to anything that has the potential of benefiting me. I'm not rich. I don't have loads of money. My purchases are based on "bang for the buck". I do my research. If I like product A and it has served me well, but product B is just like product A in most aspects but it new and cheaper I'll try it. If I don't like it, I'll go back. I would recommend something I liked, that worked well for me. There are some brands I can't find much of a fault with. *shrug*.

What are 10 things you've done that other people probably haven't?

1.    I was tasted by a turkey vulture.
2.    I gave my resume to Oliver Stone.
3.    I met Oliver North.
4.    I have helped with wiring for a concert (it gets messy after a while).
5.    I have hosted a movie night for a local radio station.
6.    I dressed up as cupid on valentines day, passed out candy and sold shots.
7.    During my insomniac days In Oswego, I'd walk to the harbor and find a bench to sit on and just think. I only mention it because I never ever met anyone else out there. ;)
8.    A classmate and I created a small digital library called the Orrin Stone Digital Library that's hosted at the school I went to.
9.    I took the time and made the effort to get to know someone who had a terrible reputation. After I discovered she had passed away, I discovered that I might be one of a very, very, very, small number of people who knew her better and differently that anyone else ever would have bothered to. I received a number of really unsavory comments that either were an attempt to varnish my impression of her or question me. Maybe it doesn't sound like a big deal but when she had passed away and when I heard so many people act with either indifference or slight joy, it bothered me. I had to deal with her. When I asked a few questions about things of hers I noticed or were told about her and when she knew I listened she was very affable. Had she done bad things? Yeah, I don't doubt it. She never took any crap from anyone and her humor was sometimes acerbic - to put it lightly (yet it cracked me up).
10. I completed this list and realized what a dork I am.

I don't exactly have words about this. I just felt like hearing it.

Warnings are everywhere. I think we disregard them until it's too late or even later that.

"Almost extinct", "near depletion", "three strikes"... I think sometimes we put too much faith in the notion that we'll have warnings to adjust our actions by. The first time, we might say "hmm, okay" and return to the behavior after a few seconds. Second time, the warning might be a little more costly and we'll pay whatever price to get it out of our face. Some of us might react as we need to after a second warning. Others will plow on through, complacent that there will be someone to warn them and the consequences will always be less severe than they ultimately are. I feel I fall into the final group. In some matters, it's the final warning or a consequence that has jarred me into rethinking how I move though life. They're not bad lessons but some of them were extremely stupid lessons where I just didn't care and had resources at my disposal. I'd like to think that I've moved past needing too many warnings, but I'd probably be lying to myself. There are just something I take for granted. Some things I over appreciate. As I've written this, I've begun to think about them and how certain final warnings might be ones of my own undoing. It's careless and I have to start acting to end the behaviors that are leading me down these roads I don't want to travel down.

Brain Putty

I'm about to put my self to sleep. It seems my headache has taken a bigger toll that I thought. I spent an extra bit of time wondering if the last line of the last entry I wrote made sense and decided to just ignore it and post it anyway.

I spent the day wanting to tell people who called the help desk "I'm tired! Leave me alone!"
- I didn't

I found it harder to resist temptation. I found myself contemplating charging a 46" LCD HDTV at Best Buy today.
- I didn't get it. Go me.

I'm lactose intolerant. Last time I had something dairy based (Sunday) I ended up in pain. Today I wanted to go to Coldstone and order a chocolate fudge milkshake.
- I convinced myself that while that seemed delicious, swallowing dynamite might be less painful.

I ended up at KFC. So many people talked about KFC this week. Coworkers, friends, family... I had to have it.
- While eating chicken strip #3, I began to hate myself. At least I ordered Cole Slaw. I'm alright with caving here, but there are so many better places to have gotten a meal. A decent meal.

I've been lethargic and weird all day. BUT, at least I didn't have a headache.

07 - Reckoner

Radiohead

Besides the song invisiblesparks posted yesterday, my interest in Radiohead peaked again. Don't gasp, but I lost interest after "Karma Police" and I don't even own that album. Once I bought one of their more experimental CDs on a whim and wanted to snap it in two, specifically after hearing a song recorded played back in reverse and rerecorded (every die hard fan know the one I speak of). I don't really consider it experimental, I considered it filling time. Anyways, I'm somewhat happy with this collection of tracks. I can see where their experimental period has paid off. I can also understand a die hard Radiohead fan's love for them. I have liked U2, all of their CDs and their 'experimental' electronic phase (they were experimenting where others have conquered and ran off to greener pastures).

So, yes, I paid $8 for this CD and I'm not ashamed of it. Had I taken the chance to download it when it was free -- I might not have then. Just because somethings free doesn't mean I have to have it. Anyways. Consider this my reasoning to check it out and pay for it or avoid it if 'you're not into that kind of thing'. Either way, it's cool.
