Pet Peeve #120

I hate it when I buy a bag of multi flavored candies and when I share them, people get all picky and wipe out one flavor.  Grabbing all the cherry or grape flavored.... ARGH.

Vox Hunt: Singing A Holiday Tune

Share your favorite holiday song.

Believe it or not, I am not too crazy about holiday music.  I can't even think of one exception.  I was burnt out at a young age.  I don't mind having to listen to it, but I don't own a single holiday tune.    This is probably the only thing I have that even mentions "holiday".

QotD: I Went To Great Measures

What was the one thing that you wanted badly that made you do something ridiculous?

Those days are far past me... I didn't have to do very much compared to others because I was spoiled!  :D

Three Days Grace

While both my sister and I were at home, they made a half-assed attempt to delivery the package.  RIGHT AFTER I checked the shipping on their site and learned it made it to Syracuse, I found a sticker on a door less than 20 feet from my sister saying we weren't there to sign for it.  One of us would have definitely heard someone.

I called within 15 minutes of the initial drop off.  They took my name and 2 numbers and claimed they'd call if he could redeliver.  40 minutes later, I called and I protested asking if they had any more information... The driver received the information, but chose not to answer either of us.  20 minutes or so after, I called again only to hear he WOULD NOT be returning....

Well peoples... I lost it.  I said "I want you to take note that this is my third time calling.  that I have been sitting here all day and that I am not pleased with your service."  my answer was "I'm sorry he knocked lightly and that you have to drive and pick it up or that we will make another attempt, hopefully before the 26th to get this for you"... The call ended.

NO, WAIT... I'm sorry.  Trust me I am.  I'm sorry that if I'm ever offered any other option, including waiting until an item is stocked from it's empty store than try to have one shipped to me using your company, I'll use it.  I'm sorry I wasted an afternoon futilely hoping someone would have let me know that I would have to go pick it up.  I'm sorry that 've been thinking that I could have done a lot of things between then and my 3 calls made over 2 and a half hours!  Finally, I'm sorry I spent the extra fucking money to make sure it got here a few days earlier than it DIDN'T.  SUCK IT FED EX "EXPRESS".

Yes, the holidays have finally gotten to me.  In time, I will return to my normal boring, fun-loving self.

Update: I drove out and picked it up.  Almost got a speeding ticket on the way there.  the place was difficult to find, I finally decided I'd pull off the road and call someone for directions and I pulled right onto the road it was off of.  I didn't yell at anyone when I got there, I just made it known that I wasn't happy.  It didn't matter and life moved on.

Vox Hunt: The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

  • Dec 22, 2007

Show us your favorite thing about this time of year.

I was looking for a picture with google picture... But I ran across this site:

http://www.yogalifestyle.com/CAShakti.htm

That's one interesting calendar.

Show you something I love about this time of year?  That'd be hard.  It's the color of the season... All the houses, lights, displays, events, and other things that color this otherwise cold and bland month.  Even Hailey (otherwise referred to as MAO) has gotten in on the act!

It's all in how you write it: to sell and inflame for a shot at front page fame.

Our local newspaper ...  Yep, 'newspaper', singular ... They have recently decided to write a story and without getting into those details, since it talks about a member of my family and the way things happened, I'm left in a position where I'm like "WHAT THE FUCK", as is the rest of my family.  What pissed us off wasn't the article subject, it was how it was written and how our local newspaper chose to run with a shitty lopsided story that leaves valuable details out.  I don't think there's any way a suit can be brought against them, because what they have there is not false, but it also isn't the whole truth.  What it is, is a story full of enough facts to make cause a reader to form one of two opinions: "oh my god, this is terrible and something needs to be done" or "alright, well, thanks for bringing this to my attention but so what?"  If it was written as it should have been: addressing mentioned parties and analyzing the facts of this matter they'd have a well rounded story where a reader would be left with one opinion "that was informative".

I'm wondering, are half-assed stories to be expected and normal in a city with only one news paper or does it also happen in cities with many papers?  What happened to covering the full truth and not only divulging enough truths to get any attention, even if  the attention is negative based on a lack of other truths?  I find it pretty disheartening that we live in an age where everyone seeks fame in their trade and as a result of this, it's become common and acceptable practice to tread on and drag down those who don't quite have the audience they do.  If hell exists, may it fill to the brim with people who choose to act in such a manner.

Taking the route to piss me off...

Ever want something delivered to you?  Ever pay the extra price to get it there a little quicker only to learn it's not getting there any quicker?  Ever track the package and think "what the fuck are you stupid bastards doing?  Your destination after the last is even more distant and SOUTH as the last one?"

So far this package has traveled part of the world and more states than I have and it's taken it's sweet time.  UPS says 3-4 days, they have usually taken 2-3 days.  Fed Ex? "If we say 3-4, we mean whenever we god damn feel like it.  WHATS YOUR RUSH?"

grrargh.

One bag of bows - $3
One sweet, sleeping cat - well, she's priceless to us.

Combining both = Priceless.

she had a little wtf expression when she woke up too.

EDIT: they were not stuck to her... the backing was still on. :)

Network shows...

There's a new website called hulu that is chocked full of shows, old and new. It doesn't have everything, but it has enough to preoccupy one on a boring day.  It's in beta, it's free to sign up, there's limited commercial interruption but they are only so many invites and you can get 'em here:

Earlier this year, I tried Joost and I didn't care for it.  The video was touch and go and I was never able to watch anything longer than a few minutes.  This site doesn't have that problem!
