Out of all the music festivals this year, which were the coolest? Did you travel to attend any of them?
I personally thought the free appearances I've seen over the years were always the best. When stars took a moment to shelve taking my money to say "thanks for being a fan and supporting me". I also didn't have the fund to go. Syracuse also lacks a venue people will play and a venue that will let some of them.
]]>I've posted my resume in two places. I've found that posting public gets more hits and more results... Shitty and legit results. The first wave has come in and the majority of them are from Insurance companies. I'm not a sales person. I dislike speaking of our mortality. I don't like selling what I don't personally believe in myself. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't believe in insurance, I've just always walked away from talks and meetings of it scratching my head and saying "huh? uh, okay".
I don't get jazzed over insurance. I don't want to sucker punch people out of what moments of joy they have by speaking of accidental dismemberment, sudden death, funeral costs, rates, payments and personal information. The only thing I threw myself into selling whole heartedly was charity. I rang a bell for Salvation Army for the holiday season. I danced, I sang, I smiled at people as they passed by, I thanked and shook peoples hands for donating. I got a lot of gratitude from people who worked with the salvation army for doing it... And it wasn't why I did it. It's because I believe in the good of it. I'm sure it's not all I can sell. But I know digital cable upgrades (when I worked as a tech at a cable company we were "encouraged" to upsell as many calls as possible. People I got had broken or faulty things, delinquent payments, were shut ins, or bat-shit crazy assholes who liked to scream. It didn't happen) and insurance are two things that bring on dry heaves while I speak of them.
I got a position to work in Fortune 500 companies doing Oracle/DBA support. It was a pitch really. See, if I fork over $1500, I get to go to a 5 week boot camp of training. After, they say the jobs I get will pay back. I process these jobs all the time. I can't vouch as to whether it's really booming or not. Just because recruiters and companies post 500 entries asking for one thing or another, doesn't mean they're not only doing it to find five cream-of-the-crop people from all points far and wide. Working the job industry has graced/cursed me with a healthy skepticism. If this came across my desk, it wouldn't go any further... Jobs shouldn't cost a seeker money or promise that there's a possibility that a third party might hire them. The only stipulation would be with high profile exec sort of agencies. In such a case the price is worth the payoff... But I'm not in that tax bracket.

What issues do you look forward to hearing about in the upcoming U.S. Presidential debates?
It's not so much the issues that I'm looking forward to, it's the answers. I really hope we're all treated to someone who hasn't hired an ass to pluck and preen then so they sound like every other asshole we've heard over the years. I'd like to see a bit more boldness, gumption, innovation, and spirit.
In the end, I can't help to think that even though we'll be better off (immeasurably so - even if it be a fucking sock) they we are with Georgy boy.
