QotD: Take That, Writer's Block!
How do you beat writer's block?

What are the writer's blocking anyway? *grin*
I can't say if writer's block is similar to an art block I had years ago. I was an ace when throwing on the wheel and I had taken classes for a few semesters straight. One day I walked in, with the intention of creating and meeting failure instead. I wasn't cooperating with the clay, it wasn't cooperating with me, I didn't like stuff I did end up with and I strained while laboring. My professor asked what was wrong and I said that I didn't know. He said I hit a block and not to fight it, just walk away until my frustrations dissipated, perhaps until I actually had something in mind. So, instead of creating, I just went around helping others understand how to center and throw and help with other areas if I could. A few days later, I seemed to be able move forward as if it never happened.
Any sort of writing block I've had had to do with school papers and complexity. I usually enjoyed exploring complex and sometimes esoteric topics... Topics I could barely really explain until I had the final draft halfway typed up. So the fight wasn't with the writing, but with the brainstorming and sleuthing. I didn't want to be like any one else out there. It was exciting when it all came together though. *shrug* I've been no help, have I?
