Life is so strange, when you're lost en route to your destination...!
I've only lived in Syracuse for 30 years, less if you subtract college.
I was walking to the hospital where my sister works and I overshot walking a block too far and walked right into some tucked in streets of the meaner area of the city. I might have even had someone yelling at me, but I can't be sure. Who'd stop to check on that anyways? There were a few guys, looked as if he was screaming and I just looked, nodded and said "hey, how ya doing?" and I kept walking. I had my headphones on loud, so... I was ignorantly blissful. Now, this wasn't the "hey you've got a hole in your pocket" sort of greetings, he looked kind of upset. Perhaps not at me, but the timing made it seem as if it could be.
It was so nice out today. I think it hit the 70s, the sun was out and feeling it on my skin and feeling it's warmth made me happy. I also also happy to see a field of little blue flowers in someone's back yard. Seeing bees busy pollinating then ... Yeah, it made me happy also. Perhaps I should have said "these things made me happy..." I feel goofy saying "x made me happy, y made me happy..." I stopped at an import store on the way, got some wonderful olives -- traditional Spanish and some almond stuffed ones. They're so awesomely salty. I learned a friend/neighbor of mine worked there and we talked for a while. I also got some imported nougat candies. Three pieces, not 100. One had an apricot center and an apricot ring around and it was my favorite. It was the first time I've had anything with apricot involved in it that I liked in a very very long time.
I met my sister, we went to the store and I got some groceries. Mostly fruit. Oranges, pears, bananas and kiwis. Got some more decaf chai tea (now I'll never run out!) and the makings for ziti.
