"crApplebee's"

Applebee's used to be good, back in the day. Like.....ten, fifteen years ago. Before the exponential proliferation of family-style theme restaurants. In my 'hood, it was Applebees, Chilis or Uno. Anything else was a "fancy" restaurant or McDonald's. Maybe my palate was immature then, but these days when and if I go to Applebee's I'm usually disappointed.

Even Chili's is hit-or-miss now.
I have never had a good meal at Applebee's.
I hear you on Chili's, though I find they're better than Applebee's and most other similar chains, sometimes they play fast and wild with the salt. I find that I'm getting tired of being lazy and going to these places for food and that I can probably do better if I took the time to cook at home.
This will probably be the only meal I'll have at Applebee's. Unless someone absolutely must go there. Then perhaps I'll just have soda.
The last time I ate at Applebee's I ended up in the hospital. Needless to say, I ain't going back.

I did go to Chili's to watch the NCAA March Madness thing, and I spent $13 on the WORST FOOD EVER. Never again, thanks!
I used to like their cheese sticks. Basically flat strips of bread with mozzarella cheese on them, and a red sauce to dip them in. Simple, and chock full of carbs and cholesterol, but good. Especially on a college kid's budget.
I'm surprised I didn't share that crApplebee's fate! But the meat was cooked short of crumbling to ash so, I was safe. I wanted to give it back, but it was 3pm and I didn't have a thing to eat all day, so it served a purpose.

I love stuff like that too. My friends and I used to go to Pizza Hut and get more excited about ordering their bread sticks and dip than ordering the pizza itself...
